THE WINE OF ETNA

Ever since this tasty drink spread in our territory, the wine produced in Sicily has always been among the most appreciated and internationally renowned. Times ago, when the farmer or those who thought they understood about wines, tasted them and the vintage was good, they usually said in Sicilian: "stu vinu avi na bella ammuccatura" (this wine tastes good). On the contrary, if the vintage was scarce they used to say: "stu vinu mi sapi di acitobbisi" (this wine tastes almost like vinegar).
And if the wine was neither good nor bad: "stu vinu pari bonu, ma lassa a ucca asciutta" (this wine seems good but leaves the mouth dry).   Now times have changed: there are sommeliers who are certified experts and if you want to be specialised in tasting wine you can attend courses that can last up to three years.

The territory of Etna, in particular, is distinguished above all by its volcanic nature, in which the flows of lava, in different eras, have made the lands different between each other, and for this reason the grapes produced here differ from district to district.
The journalist and writer Bruno Vespa, also producer of wines, in an occasional meeting talking about the Etna wine area, stated: "It's wonderful. I can say this because I know a little about this territory. I am enthusiastic about Etna's wines, I like them very much and I think they have great versatility, more than you could think".
